A swimmer was reportedly bitten by a shark Wednesday morning near the 31st Street beach access in Sunset Beach.
The incident occurred around 11 a.m., according to Sunset Beach Fire Department officials. Emergency crews arrived to find the swimmer conscious and alert. Firefighters administered medical care on site before moving the victim to a designated transfer point on the beach.
Brunswick County EMS then transported the swimmer to a local hospital for further treatment. Officials did not release the swimmer’s condition or the severity of the injuries.
