One of America’s Largest Rail Lines Moving Entire Headquarters From Chicago to Charlotte

TTX, one of America’s largest railcar and freight management companies has just announced plans to move their entire headquarters from Chicago to Charlotte. They will be investing over $14.5 million and creating at least 150 jobs with an average salary of $162,000 in Mecklenburg County as a part of the move (Charlotte’s average annual salary is $80,349).

“We believe Charlotte presents a unique opportunity for TTX that provides for strategic partnerships to strengthen our business,” said TTX CEO Thomas F. Wells in a press release. “Our company is positioned to provide strong rail and freight car management services from the Charlotte metro area – as such, we are excited to partner with local innovators, business leaders and academic institutions to drive value for the North American rail industry and the local economy. We also look forward to welcoming new local talent to join our existing workforce to continue to drive our long-term success.”

TTX was originally founded in 1955 as a small railcar company by the Pennsylvania Railroad. They have since grown contain a massive fleet of over 170,000 railcars, as well as operating a sweeping suite of technology solutions for the railroad industry.

The company currently employees 1,685 workers around the world and generated over $1.1 billion in revenue last year.
