As you will probably know, Charlotte is home to a number of major sports teams in the US, with NBA team Charlotte Hornets and NFL’s Carolina Panthers both providing exciting action for sports fans. They are set to be joined by an MLS expansion franchise in 2021. Charlotte Hornets vs LA Lakers (NBA – 21 March

The Hornets have a busy schedule ahead, so there are plenty of opportunities to catch a game at the Spectrum Center. The half marathon event takes place on 18 April and is one of the best running events in the area. Runners of all abilities take part in the event and there is a real carnival atmosphere with celebrations following the finish of the race. The route takes runners through the famous SouthPark area, which is the upscale shopping area with lots of nice restaurants and bars to visit after the event. 

Wells Fargo Championship (Golf) – 27 April – 3 May)

The Wells Fargo Championship is a huge fixture on the golfing calendar and one of the biggest sporting events to visit Charlotte. The top players from the PGA tour will be on display, with golf enthusiasts from all over the world heading to Charlotte to catch their heroes in action. The event also raises a lot of money for local charities in Charlotte and tickets are available through the competition’s website.
