University of North Carolina’s Track & Field star Briauna Jones’ has just been chosen as a member of the 2018 U.S. Olympic Women’s Bobsled Team. She will be joining the rest of the US Olympic team next month in Pyeongchang, South Korea to face off against the best athletes in the world.
Jones earned a spot on her first US national team last year and won a Gold Medal during the 2016-17 World Cup in St. Moritz, Switzerland. Last year she was also was named the USABS Rookie of the Year.
A native of Summerville, SC, Jones started school at UNCC 2010 and earned an incredible list of awards and records. She currently holds a spot on the top 10 list for the following events: indoor 60-meter dash, indoor and outdoor long jump, indoor and outdoor triple jump and indoor and outdoor high jump. In 2012 she even helped the 49ers’ 4×100 meter relay team earn a trip to the national championships.
