Here are the top 10 things happening around the Charlotte region this weekend:

#1 Hickory’s Oktoberfest

Hickory’s Oktoberfest is a three-day, outdoor festival on the second weekend of October, in Hickory, North Carolina, featuring three stages of non-stop live entertainment ranging from traditional polka to rock & roll, two beer gardens, amusement rides and carnival games, a juried arts and crafts show, and hundreds of food and commercial vendors.

The festivial runs from Friday at 5pm to Sunday at 5pm.

#2 NBA Preseason: Charlotte Hornets vs. Dallas Mavericks

Hornets season is finally here! The Dallas Mavericks will be coming to town this coming Friday night for the Hornet’s first home preseason game, starting at 6pm.

#3 Carolina Renaissance Festival

This is the third weekend for Carolina’s biggest Renaissance Festival. History comes alive with non-stop, day long entertainments, arts and crafts, games and rides, jousting knights on horseback, feasting and so much more!  Time travel to the greatest party since Camelot! Huzzah!

#6 5th Annual Huntersville Fall Festival

Huntersville’s Fall Festival is happening this Saturday from 10am-4pm.

Come join in the fun at the 5th Annual Community Huntersville Fall Festival! Enjoy local art and craft booths, children games and crafts, inflatables, scarecrow making, food trucks, pumpkin patch, and live music.

#7 Lost Hollow Music Fest 2017

Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden‘s Lost Hollow Music Fest will be happening this coming on Oct. 14 & 15! Live performances by Caroline Keller BandHead for the HillsThe RagbirdsStepside Deluxe and Carolina Sonrise will take place during this two-day festival that’s free with general daytime admission!

Conor Oberst will be playing live at the Neighborhood Theater this coming Sunday night starting at 8pm.

Conor is an American singer-songwriter best known for his work in Bright Eyes. He has also played in several other bands, including Desaparecidos, The Faint, Commander Venus, and Park Ave.

#10 Open Streets 704

The 4th Open Streets event will be taking over several streets around “LoSo” (Lower South End), and the Park Rd. Shopping Center area this coming Sunday afternoon.

The 5.5 mile route will start at The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery and end around the Park Rd. Shopping Center and Little Sugar Creek Greenway.
