Tega Cay and Fort Mill Rank Among The Best Places to Live in New Report

Tega Cay and Fort Mill have just been ranked as the top two places to live in South Carolina, according to Niche’s 2024 Best Places to Live rankings.

Tega Cay, located southwest of Charlotte near Lake Wylie, ranked first in the state, excelling in public schools and family-friendliness, though it scored lower in commute times.

Fort Mill secured the second spot, mirroring Tega Cay’s high ratings in education and family living, but facing similar challenges with commute and some added crime and safety issues in parts of the town.

Niche’s report examines a wide range of governmental data, housing figures, employment numbers, community feedback, education stats, crime reports, and local amenities.

South Carolina boasts eight locations with an A+ grade, including Pendleton, Forest Acres, and Five Forks. In North Carolina, Cary leads the rankings, with Davidson and Dilworth also in the top five. North Carolina has 43 places with an A+ grade, with Morrisville and Apex ranking high among them.

Charlotte ranks 93rd in North Carolina and 3,199th nationally, with Raleigh and Charleston outperforming it in both state and national rankings.

The top spots in the US, according to Niche’s 2024 report goes to Arlington, Virginia’s Colonial Village, followed by Carmel, Indiana, and Chesterbrook, Pennsylvania.
