Sustain Charlotte Hosting Fourth Annual Biketoberfest This Weekend

Discover how easy it is to get around Charlotte by bike at Sustain Charlotte’s 2018 Biketoberfest. This unique biking event features biking options for everyone. From families to confident cyclists, Biketoberfest will show you fun and easy routes to get to destinations around the city.

Sustain Charlotte partnered with the Charlotte Department of Transportation to create a one-day pilot protected bike lane on 6th Street and have a special Lime Bike ticket that includes a free bike rental for the duration of the event.

How it works:

  • Bike around town to fun destinations while collecting stamps in your official Biketoberfest Passport at our route stops.

  • The stamps you collect on your passport at official destinations will be entered in a raffle for many fantastic prizes. The more destinations you visit, the more chances you’ll have to win.

  • Gather for an after-party celebration and enjoy live music from the Flat Tire Trio, free beer (with your beer ticket in your passport, while supplies last), and an exciting raffle with over 20 prizes at Triple C.

WHEN: Sunday, October 14 from 11:30 a.m. – 6:30 p.m.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:
11:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Event check-in at Lenny Boy Brewing Co. (3000 S. Tryon St.)
12:00 – 4:30 p.m. – Explore the city by bike
4:30 – 6:30 p.m. – After-party at Triple C Brewing Co. (2900 Griffith St.)

ROUTES: This year we have two routes for you to choose from. The South End Easy Ride, sponsored by Historic South End, is a short, low-stress route designed for families and beginner-level cyclists.

To experience all that Biketoberfest has to offer, check out the full route with 30 stops and ride the Uptown Loop that takes riders into Uptown via the Rail Trail and S. Tryon street bridge. In addition to seeing all the cultural sights Uptown has to offer, you will also get to experience a temporary protected bike lane pilot project on 6th Street in place only for Biketoberfest.

See both routes and all 30 of our stops by visiting biketoberfestclt.org. Maps will be available at the event, plus you can download your map ahead of time. Learn how here.

TICKETS: Tickets start at $25 and are on sale now at biketoberfestclt.org. Children under age 18 may participate for free if accompanied by a paying (registered) parent or guardian.
