Police departments across the country are also reporting similar threats, including the New York City and Oklahoma City.

“At this time, it appears that these threats are meant to cause disruption and/or obtain money,” the New York Police Department commented in a tweet posted this afternoon. “We’ll respond to each call regarding these emails to conduct a search but we wanted to share this information so the credibility of these threats can be assessed as likely NOT CREDIBLE.”

At this point there is no reason to be overly alarmed; if you receive a threat please notify 911 so they can evaluate your situation. The FBI will most likely want a copy of the threatening e-mail to forensically investigate the threat.

We will update this article as new information comes in.
