Police Asking For Help In Finding Sexual Assault Suspect Near Uptown Charlotte

Early Thursday morning, a sexual assault occurred around the streets of Uptown Charlotte and police are now asking for the public’s help in finding the perpetrator.

The assault occurred near the intersection of Freedom Dr. and W. Morehead Dr., just outside 277;

The assault victim was immediately rushed to CMC. CMPD officers began looking for the suspect and increased patrols around the area, but they weren’t able to find any solid leads as of this morning.

They just released the following request for help from the public;

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit are requesting the public’s assistance in providing information that will assist them in identifying the suspect involved in a sexual assault that occurred in the Metro Division.

On Thursday, November 01, 2018 at 3:05 a.m., Metro Division officers were dispatched to a sexual assault call for service. The 25-year-old female victim advised that she was walking on E. Morehead Street when the unknown suspect approached her and sexually assaulted her. During the assault, the suspect took the victims cell phone.

The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black male about 25 ye.ars-old, 5’7″, and weighs about 165 pounds. The suspect had a short afro and was last seen wearing a maroon hoodie and blue jeans.
