Nucor Steel Announced Plans To Build New $350 Million Rebar Steel Plant in NC


Charlotte-based Nucor, America’s largest steel producer, just announced plans to build a new rebar and steel bar plant in North Carolina for $350 million.

In a press release, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said the new plant will create upwards of 200 new jobs.

“Manufacturing is the heartbeat of North Carolina’s economy, thanks to our skilled workers and the workforce training systems that support them,” said Cooper. “Nucor already calls North Carolina home and their decision to expand here is great for our domestic supply chain that supports our fast-growing economy.”

Nucor, recently ranked one of the most admired companies in the country, manufacturers a plethora of iron-based products, including; bars, beams, sheet and plate, and hollow section tubing (in both carbon and alloy steel forms). It’s estimated that Nucor currently produces roughly 430,000 tons of steel each year.
