At the top is an interactive map summarizing the behavior of millions of Apartment List users searching on our platform from January through March of this year. Over 40% are looking for their next home in a new metro, and 27% are searching in a new state, both well above pre-pandemic benchmarks.Key insights from the report include:

55% of Charlotte apartment hunters are looking for homes outside the metro area. The most popular destinations among these renters are Charleston, Raleigh, and Greenville.

In the other direction, 41% of renters looking for apartments in Charlotte are searching from out-of-town. Atlanta, Raleigh, and New York are providing the most inbound search interest this quarter.
