NC Wildlife Commission Opening Hatchery-Stocked Trout Waters Today at 7am

816

This morning at 7am, The N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission is officially opening over 900 miles of Hatchery-stocked Trout Waters.

North Carolina anglers now have a limited window to harvest up to 7 trout per day every day with no minimum sizes and no restrictions to bait they can use.

The Commission has also posted the full Hatchery-Supported Trout Waters stocking schedule to inform anglers which days each body of water is being stocked with fresh trout.

In the coming months, NC Wildlife staff plan to stock nearly 930,000 trout — most being at least 10 inches in length, and about 4% being over 14 inches in length. The trout will come from 2 massive hatcheries in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

This limited season on publicly-stocked waters will run through Feb. 29, 2020.

To see a complete list of all Hatchery Supported Trout Waters and trout maps, you can go to the Commission’s trout fishing page here.
