Mecklenburg and Union Counties Rank Among The Top 10 For Largest Tax Refund Checks

Tax Day has been moved to July 15th this year to accommodate filers impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. To find the places where people are generating the largest average refund checks, SmartAsset has released a study analyzing tax refunds in North Carolina.

To determine the counties that received the highest average refunds, the study divided the total amount of money refunded by the IRS by the number of refunds given out to residents in each county.
