A Lincolnton man has just been charged with assault after shooting a woman who mistakenly picked up his Trump campaign sign.
The incident occurred yesterday afternoon in a Lincolnton subdivision.
Peggy Fox was visiting her brother with her daughter. When she arrived at her brother’s house, she noticed a Trump 2020 sign in what she thought was her brother’s yard. Believing it to be a prank, she picked up the sign and started walking it up to her brother’s house. She suddenly felt ‘excruciating pain’ in her arm and noticed that she had been shot. “The entry point swelled to a golf ball size,” she recounted.
She recalled the entire incident in a Facebook post later that evening.
The man who shot her has since been charged with misdemeanor assault.
