Latin American Festivals Around the World

66

In such a multicultural world, there are numerous festivals that celebrate the diversity of each place, and the distinct cultures that contribute to our histories. So, let’s take a look at just a few Latin American festivals around the world.

Heritage Festival in Birmingham, UK

Latin American culture and heritage has long since been a mainstay of pop culture in the UK. Ancient Latin America particularly continues to be a very popular theme for a wide range of media such as films, TV, comic books, novels, and games. In fact, Mesoamerican themes such as this continue to be one of the most popular themes for casino games online – not only for on-demand casino games, but live games too. When casino enthusiasts play live casino online, they can choose from a wide range of themed takes on traditional casino games such as Live Gonzo’s Treasure Map, Snakes & Ladders Live, and Buffalo Blitz Live, which riff off the themes and motifs of Latin American history.

It is almost no surprise, then, that the UK is home to several long-standing festivals that celebrate Latin American heritage. Perhaps the most varied of all the festivals in the annual Latin American Heritage Celebration hosted by the Birmingham Museum of Art. This festival explores art from the Spanish-speaking world, allows tactile learners to partake in arts and crafts, hosts salsa dancing workshops (or performances if attendees prefer to watch), musical guests and DJs, and a broad selection of traditional Latin American food.

Breakthrough Weekend Festival in Adelaide, Australia

From a well-established festival, the next on our list is something of a trailblazer. September 2023 marked the first-ever Adelaide Latin Festival in the South Australian region – and as it was so successful, there are hopes that it will continue to return to the Morphettville Racecourse on an annual basis. The inaugural festival created a cultural village, packed full of Latin-inspired art, fashion, and accessories, and was hailed for its authenticity thanks to partnering with local Latino-owned businesses.

After checking out the cultural village, visitors could head over to the food court, which celebrated bold flavors from across Latin America. Perhaps the highlight of the festival was the music, dancing, and party vibes, with live performances from artists from Brazil, Columbia, Chile, and Argentina, the beats of Salsa, Merengue, Bachata, and Reggaeton, and, of course, a traditional Mexican Mariachi Band.

Celebrate at the Festival Latinoamericano Here in Charlotte

Now, it would be amiss if we didn’t take a moment to celebrate our very own Festival Latinoamericano, which has been hosted every year here in Charlotte for 33 years. The festival, which is organized by the Latin American Coalition, aims to celebrate and unite the Latino communities that call North Carolina their home, as part of the wider Charlotte International Arts Festival.

Festival Latinoamericano features music, food, and dance styles from 19 distinct countries, celebrating the flavors, traditions, and overall good vibes. Whether you’re looking for savory tastes and diverse textures, or hoping for something sweet, the Festival Latinoamericano has some of the best Latin American food in Charlotte.

And there you have it – just a few Latin American festivals around the world, celebrating the music, art, dance, and food of such a diverse and historic culture, and highlighting the impact that themes from such an influential culture have had on the pop culture of the rest of the world.
