462

Following months of anticipation, The Beacon of Freedom – the centerpiece of North Carolina’s first state monument to honor African Americans – is set for delivery and installation this week.

The 40-foot tall metal structure which is considered a pivotal piece of North Carolina Freedom Park’s design will begin installation this week.

Located on the one-acre site between the state legislature and the Executive Mansion, NC Freedom Park is honored to be one of the last designs of legendary architect Phil Freelon and colleagues at Perkins + Will. Leading the project’s construction is Raleigh-based firm Holt Brothers Construction, founded by North Carolina natives Terrence and Torry Holt, who partnered with Demiurge design studio on fabrication of the beacon.
