Gastonia Man Arrested For Attempted Murder and Assault With Deadly Weapon

Gastonia Police have just arrested an attempted murder suspect after he shot his girlfriend several times.

Police arrested 33-year-old Billy Ray Dellinger (Jr.) yesterday afternoon at 1:48 pm after receiving a call about a shooting in Northeast Gastonia. 41-year-old Heather Hensley Jones was rushed to the hospital with multiple gunshot wounds.

The shooting occurred at 1102 North New Hope Road in Gastonia, NC, where both Dellinger and Jones had been living:

Dellinger is now being charged with weapon possession by a felon, felony assault, and attempted homicide. He was previously incarcerated in an NC state prison from 2009-2019 for robbery with a dangerous weapon and assault with a deadly weapon.

According to CaroMont Regional Medical Center, Jones is now considered to be in ‘fair condition’.
