A massive line of thunderstorms is now dumping a record amount of rain on the Charlotte region this morning.
The National Weather Service issued the following warning for our area:
* Flash Flood Warning for... Eastern Catawba County in the piedmont of North Carolina... Southeastern Cleveland County in the piedmont of North Carolina... West Central Davie County in the piedmont of North Carolina... Gaston County in the piedmont of North Carolina... Iredell County in the piedmont of North Carolina... Lincoln County in the piedmont of North Carolina... Northwestern Mecklenburg County in the piedmont of North Carolina... Northwestern Rowan County in the piedmont of North Carolina... * Until 1100 AM EST. * At 827 AM EST, After widespread storm total rainfall amounts of 3 to 4 inches with locally higher amounts, excessive runoff will continue this morning all across the warned area. Numerous roads remained flooded and motorists are urged to use caution while traveling this morning!
As of 9:30am, Charlotte has received a total of 3 inches of rainfall, smashing the previous November 12th record of 1.78 inches, which was set back in 2018.

The record level of rain has caused many roads, streams, and backyards around Charlotte to flood.
