Residents looking for ways to deal with the continuing pressures of inflation have a new option to explore in the Queen City.

Instawork, the leading platform for connecting businesses with skilled workers, recently announced the platform’s availability to hourly workers in the Charlotte, North Carolina area looking to earn more money and make a living wage.

While North Carolina’s minimum wage has not been increased by the state in more than a decade, Instawork reports that the average hourly rate on their platform in the city comes in at more than double that at $16.13.

This comes at a time when a recent survey showed that almost 1 in 3 Charlotte residents is spending their savings to purchase items now, fearing prices will rise even further and inflation will continue.

“We’re thrilled that Instawork has launched in Charlotte to give workers access to a fair living wage,” said Kira Caban, Instawork’s Head of Strategic Communications. “People are working hard to support their families amid inflation. Earning more on Instawork, either by using it as a primary source or income or as a side hustle for extra cash, can make all of the difference.”

More than 22,000 people in Charlotte have already downloaded the Instawork app and are working to staff business locations across the area. The most common role in the area is general labor, but Instawork also offers roles in food and beverage, retail, hospitality, and light industrial/warehouse.

Charlotte residents looking to become an Instawork Pro – one of the platform’s hourly workers – can easily create a profile, find a shift that matches their skills and interests, and begin working as soon as a day later.

In addition to increasing their wages and enjoying unlimited income potential, current Instawork Pros cite work flexibility and the ability to build schedules around their personal lives to be a  primary motivator for using the app. Many Instawork Pros also qualify for a benefit called Instapay, which gives them almost immediate access to funds earned after a shift is completed.

“Flexible work is a great way to give yourself a cushion in uncertain economic times,” said Daniel Altman, Instawork’s Chief Economist. “As well as getting paid quickly and predictably, our Pros use Instawork to gain new skills, try out different roles, and expand their networks.”

Instawork is also looking to support Charlotte-area businesses struggling to find enough staff amid an ongoing national labor shortage. Businesses gain quick access to reliable, qualified Pros, saving time on the administrative task of hiring staff, and increasing customer loyalty due to a better all-around experience.

Current businesses that use Instawork range from nationally-recognized hotels and restaurants groups to local hot spots and sports venues in cities across the country.

To ensure consistent matches between the businesses and workers, the platform encourages both parties to rate each other on a five-star scale following shifts to help match future shifts with those who are best qualified.

Instawork is currently staffing businesses in more than 30 markets across the U.S. and Canada. Charlotteans interested in learning more about Instawork should visit www.instawork.com or download the app.
