Missing 3-Year-Old NC Boy Found Last Night In Briar Patch

Last night, first responders with the First responders with the Craven County Sheriff’s department were given a tip about the possible location of 3-year-old Casey Lynn Hathaway, who had been missing for 2 days. After several hours of searching around the given area, they discovered him in a briar patch in relatively good health.

The boy was found in Craven County off Aurora Road near the intersection of Roler Road.

Casey’s aunt Breanna Hathaway posted on Facebook that the young boy told family members that “he hung out with a bear for two days.” She said that her nephew’s safety is a “miracle” and that, “God sent him a friend to keep him safe.”

Yesterday afternoon, a 3-year-old boy went missing in a small North Carolina town.

Casey Lynn Hathaway is 2’4″ tall and weighs 25 lbs with blond hair and brown eyes. He was last seen with dark-colored pants and a blue coat.

According to police, the boy’s grandmother was watching him and 2 other children when Casey went missing behind her house on Toler Rd. in Ernul, NC;

He was last seen around 1:45 p.m. and police were contacted about 45 minutes later.

The grandmother told police the young boy was not properly dressed for last night’s temperatures in the mid-30s.

The Sherrif’s office released a statement yesterday asking everyone in the area to “check storage sheds, vehicles, and their property for the child.”

Hundreds of Enul residents have joined the Craven County Sheriff’s Office, State Highway Patrol, New Bern Police Department, North Carolina SBI, FBI, and Pamlico County Sheriff’s Office K9s in searching for the young child.
