A fatal traffic accident this afternoon near Exit 27 on I-85 involving a tractor-trailer and passenger vehicle resulted in the death of one person.
Gaston County EMS says the deadly crash happened on Caldwell Drive (Hwy 273) near the exit.
Exit 27 is now blocked and rush hour traffic has backed-up I-85 south-bound lanes for miles;
No names have yet been released by authorities.
