A United States Air Force fighter jet crashed last night in South Carolina during a routine training mission.
The incident took place at around 11:30 pm on Tuesday night at the Shaw Air Force Base, about 100 miles south of Charlotte. There was one pilot aboard the F-16 jet when it crashed.

Larry Sullivan, commander at the Shaw Air Force Base, confirmed on Facebook that the pilot is now deceased.
The Facebook post also added; “The name of the pilot is being withheld until 24 hours after next of kin notification. Out of respect and consideration for the family, we ask for your patience and to avoid speculation until we release more information”.
The exact cause of the deadly crash is still under investigation.
