Driver Narrowly Escapes After Gunman Opens Fire in NW Charlotte Road Rage Incident

A road rage encounter in northeast Charlotte nearly turned deadly after a gunman opened fire on an SUV in broad daylight, leaving the vehicle riddled with bullet holes and causing an estimated $10,000 in damage.

The shooting happened around 10:20 a.m. near the intersection of Back Creek Church Road and University City Boulevard, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The victim had just left a nearby store when a dispute broke out involving a person on an ATV and another driver in a truck. The shooter then fired multiple rounds into the victim’s SUV before speeding away, according to WCNC.

The driver was not seriously injured, despite how close the gunfire came to hitting him.
