The major gateway into Davidson from i77 is now getting a major face-lift.
The new $3 million Exit 30 upgrade will add full-width pedestrian and bicycle lanes to the the entire length of the bridge, as well as new roundabouts at the northbound and southbound ramps.
The new project will be tackled in 2 phases.
The first phase will widen the bridge for the six-foot-wide pedestrian and 12-foot-wide bicycle lanes on either side.
The second phase will add flashing pedestrian controlled beacons at the northbound interstate on-ramp to alert traffic of cyclists and pedestrians using the multi-use path, roundabouts on either side of the bridge, and mature trees and landscaping along the bridge.
Construction is now expected to begin in the coming months, and completed by the middle of 2018.

can’t wait to see how it turns out
How do you grow trees on an overpass? Of course, if they can put an expensive, barely visible, non-functional faux mast on the Exit 28 bridge anything is possible!
