2544

Yesterday evening, a 5-year-old girl was shot off Eldgywood Ln in Northeast Charlotte, according to CMPD.

Police were called to the scene last night at about 9:30pm where they discovered a life-threatening wound in young Amani Barringer’s neck.

Barringer was rushed to the hospital where she tragically died, at which point the case became a homicide investigation.

Officers have now arrested a 14-year-old as a suspect in the shooting.

During yesterday’s press conference, CMPD’s Major Ryan Butler pleaded for help from the public, saying “regardless of what your worldview is, this should make you sick to your stomach.”
