Yesterday afternoon, CMPD announced they were investigating active shooter reports in 2 locations around Charlotte.

The first reported incident was in Uptown Charlotte. At about 1pm, police announced that “A security guard called 9-1-1 after a 3rd party reported having heard someone say they had a gun near the 500 block of South Church Street.” They said that they were not able to confirm the presence of an active shooter once they arrived on the scene.

About 2 hours later, CMPD announced they had also heard reports of an active shooter at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport.

At this point, they have yet to find an active shooter in either Uptown Charlotte or at the Airport.
