US News and World Report has just ranked the small city of Hickory, North Carolina as the 4th cheapest place to live in America, as well as the 5th best place to live in North Carolina (Charlotte was ranked as the 2nd best place to live in NC, just behind Raleigh).

In referencing Hickory, the report notes:

“With its moderate climate and sweeping mountain views, the Hickory-Lenoir-Morganton area, sometimes known as the Catawba Valley, is a home for retirees and families and is becoming a destination for young professionals as well. The region is starting to see growth from Charlotte, which is just an hour’s drive south from Hickory.”

After recently finding themselves on lists for the “Top 25 Worst Towns in America for Opioid Abuse” and the “Least Educated Cities in America“, the City of Hickory is doing all they can to promote their new positive ranking:

What do you think about the ranking?
