The sun is out and fun is in at Pike Nurseries! To entertain and educate little ones once school is out, the local garden center is offering an interactive series of classes to help the youngest green thumbs get active in the garden. The experts at Pike Nurseries are also hosting a festive patriotic planter make and take class to bring color to outdoor spaces in time for the Fourth of July entertaining. Whether looking to benefit from expert knowledge or participating in informative classes, gardeners of all skillsets are encouraged to visit their local Pike Nurseries store this month for everything needed to get the backyard looking beautiful!

Pike Kids Series
Wednesdays in June at 10 a.m. at select Pike Nurseries locations*
In this four-part summer series of interactive classes, children will engage their brains by learning about various important aspects of the garden landscape. Kids Series classes are open to all ages; children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Capacity is limited to 25 people per class. Participants are required to pre-register at pikenursery.com.

  • June 5: Garden Critters
Gardens are home to several beneficial bugs – including butterflies, ladybugs and worms – that help plants grow. During this class, kids can meet some of these helpful critters and create a butterfly feeder to invite fluttering friends to green spaces.
*This class will only be held at the Georgia locations listed below.
  • June 12: Herbs
Little ones can use their five senses to learn about a variety of herbs and the best way to incorporate them in food, beverages or the home. As an added bonus, participants can make their own herb-scented lotion!
  • June 19: Seeds
During this interactive class, children can explore the anatomy of seeds to understand how they grow and become plants. Afterwards, littles can craft their own seed balls to plant at home.
  • June 26: Birds
Birds and gardens have a symbiotic relationship that ultimately helps each survive and thrive. In addition to learning how each benefits the other, kids at this class have the opportunity to make a bird feeder to hang in the backyard at home!
