The LYNX Blue Line Extension (BLE) saw its official groundbreaking on July 23rd 2013 – now almost 3 years later, things are really taking shape. I decided to take a drive down N. Tryon Street from UNCC to Uptown to take some pictures of the progress.

This will be one of the most prominent stops in the middle of N. Tryon Street, between WT Harris and the University – it will come with its own massive 4 story parking deck and overpass;

Here is the mostly completed bridge over WT Harris – it makes the whole intersection look radically different;

There are tons of stamped concrete pieces all along the new line;

The bridge over Old Concord Rd. is also almost finished;

This will be the first stop outside of Uptown on the new Blue Line Extension;

The LYNX Blue Line Extension is now scheduled to open early next year. You can follow the continued progress here on the Extension’s Update Facebook Page.
