Charlotte’s first Frutta Bowls will be holding their grand opening this weekend in Charlotte’s Metropolitan development – halfway between Trader Joes and Target. It’s the latest project of husband and wife power duo Nicholas and Linda Lancetti (owners of CKO Kickboxing in South Charlotte).

The new eatery is unique in that they not only offer fresh acai bowls, but also pitaya, kale and oatmeal bowls – as well as smoothies and an on-tap kombucha station.

The first Frutta Bowls was started 2 years ago in Freehold, NJ by Brooke Gagliano who studied health, wellness and sports in college and wanted to create something that merged all of her passions.

Gagliano first discovered the acai bowl concept on a trip to California and the idea for Frutta Bowls was born. Her idea has since turned into over than 80 franchise locations across the country.

Frutta Bowl’s signature berry comes from the acai palm tree, native to South and Central America – it’s known as a superfood due to its high level of antioxidants, omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, and high level of essential vitamins and minerals.

The base of a Frutta Bowls’ acai bowl consists of flash-frozen acai berries “blended at the peak of freshness with ripe fruit” to create a smooth sorbet-like texture with no added sugars. Gluten-free oats, nut butters, sauces, and fresh fruit is then piled on top for a uniquely filling and delicious meal;

Charlotte’s first Frutta Bowl also features a fully-stocked allergy station, allowing them to make custom bowls that are completely free of all nuts, glutten, and/or dairy;

They also have a huge patio with stunning skyline views;

They’ll be holding their grand opening this coming Saturday from 9am-9pm at 1055 Metropolitan Ave., Charlotte, NC 28204 – the first 50 people in the door will receive a free acai bowl.
