This past weekend, the Queen City witnessed its largest Charlotte Pride festival and parade in our city’s history.
According to organizers, an estimated 200,000 visitors came to the festival over the 3 days it was held in Uptown Charlotte;
200,000!!! That’s a big number, Charlotte! You are AMAZING! You made the Queen City’s #Stonewall50 celebration something special. The BIGGEST Charlotte Pride Festival & Parade ever. Initial estimates are that 200,000 visitors attended the event over the weekend! #cltpride pic.twitter.com/ZVKzhBmShC

This year’s numbers were significantly higher than previous years, including an estimated 130,000 in 2016, 150,000 in 2017, and 165,000 in 2018.
Organizers think the significantly increase in numbers this year was due to the fact that 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of Manhattan’s Stonewall riots back in the 60s.
