Charlotte Men’s Shelter and Salvation Army Implementing ‘No-Turn-Away’ Policy Due To Extreme Cold

2017

Charlotte is now experiencing the coldest weather yet this season with wind chills reaching 17° today and tomorrow.

Due to the sudden cold snap, both the Men’s Shelter of Charlotte/Urban Ministry Center and the Salvation Army Center of Hope have announced they will be implementing a ‘no-turn-away’ policy for those seeking shelter.

Participating locations include:

Men’s Shelter at 1210 North Tryon, open 24 hours per day
Men’s Shelter at 3410 Statesville Avenue, available from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m.
Salvation Army Center of Hope, open 24 hours per day

CATS buses will also be taking people to the shelters for free now through Wednesday.

If you’d like to help out those in need, the Salvation Army is currently collecting coats to give out to those who need them in our city.
