Charlotte Film Society Takes Over Charlotte Film Festival

The Charlotte Film Society has taken over operations for the Charlotte Film Festival beginning in 2020. The 12th Charlotte Film Festival will be held at Ayrsley Grand Cinemas September 23rd-27th, 2020.
The Charlotte Film Society, a 501(c)(3) corporation, has been screening independent and arthouse films for Charlotte cinephiles since its establishment in 1982.
The Charlotte Film Festival, which was founded in 2006 and revived in 2015 by the nonprofit Charlotte Cinema Arts, has been held exclusively at Ayrsley Grand Cinemas since 2016. 2019 screenings at the Charlotte Film Festival included Parasite, Oscar(™) winner for Best Picture; Clemency, starring Alfre Woodard, and the French masterpiece Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
Brad Ritter, President of the Board of Directors of the Charlotte Film Society, said that he looks forward to the Charlotte Film Society taking over Film Festival operations. “Operating the Charlotte Film Festival helps the Charlotte Film Society continue and enhance our mission of bringing excellent film programming to an even wider Charlotte audience.”
Jay Morong will be Festival Director of the 2020 Charlotte Film Festival, while continuing his work as Director of Programming for the Charlotte Film Society. Filmmaker Taylor Montalto of Carolina Film Community will serve as Programming Director of the 2020 Charlotte Film Festival.
