The Charlotte City Council has just approved a new $4+ million project to add a giant monument and signs outside of the Charlotte Douglas Airport ahead of the 2020 Republican National Convention.

According to a press release from the airport, “The centerpiece of the project is the architectural crown monument on Wilkinson Boulevard at Josh Birmingham Parkway – the Airport’s official entrance”.

The plan also includes adding 2 massive new signs on the either side of Airport property on Wilkinson Boulevard which will read “CLT”;

Money for the new monument and signs will come from increased fees and rent around the airport.

What do you think about the new plan?
