This morning a Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) bus crashed into a Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) bus at the corner of Randolph Road and Aylesford Road.
According to the Charlotte Fire Department, the driver of the CATS bus had a medical emergency while approaching the intersection, ran the red light, and crashed into the CMS bus. The CATS driver, 1 CATS bus rider, and CMS driver were all rushed to the hospital. The CMS bus was transporting 7 school children, who were unharmed in the accident and have now been returned to their parents.

CMPD has now closed the surrounding inbound lanes while they conduct a full investigation of the incident.
