The I-77 toll lane construction is not only increasing traffic jams and traffic accidents, it’s also increasing the amount of air-born construction debris flying at cars.
Local news station Fox 46 did an investigation into road debris hitting cars on I-77 and what they discovered was shocking. One driver in particular, Chris Dooley, said he saw a teenager’s windshield impaled (thankfully he had a layer of security glass that prevented the windshield from shattering):
Large steel sections of the road can now be found sitting along the concrete barrier on I-77, waiting for a vehicles to run over them an fling them into oncoming traffic.
