Bi-Lo Will Be Closing Their Last 3 Charlotte-Area Stores, Close-Out Sales Now Started

Charlotte is about to witness the end of an era when the Bi-Lo supermarket chain closes its 3 remaining stores in our region.

According to Supermarket News, Ahold Delhaize USA’s Food Lion grocery chain made an agreement with Bi-Lo’s parent Southeastern Grocers to acquire all remaining stores — 46 Bi-Lo remaining locations spread across in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia — and eventually transition them to the new banner of Food Lion.

The remaining 3 Charlotte-area stores are now scheduled to close on April 11th, and will begin close-out sales this week.

Bi-Lo’s troubles first became visible in 2018 when they declared bankruptcy and closed 9 Charlotte-area stores.

Bi-Lo, along with most other grocers, has been fighting with staying competitive in today’s world of discount food suppliers like Wal-Mart, Lidl, and Amazon Prime Pantry.

Where do you buy most of your groceries?

Has this changed over the past few years?
