The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) has just sent out an urgent warning for the public to stay away from the area around Advanced Auto Parks on Freedom Drive.
According to a statement, officers initially responded to a call of an armed robbery about an hour ago at the Advanced Auto Parts Store. Upon arrival, they found the suspect barricaded himself inside. They are currently working to remove the armed assailant.
Officers are near 2900 Freedom Drive and are currently implementing de-escalation tactics due to an armed suspect who is believed to be alone inside of a building. Everyone is asked to stay away from the area as officers work to peacefully de-escalate the situation.

The store is located at 2900 Freedom Drive;
Police have now shut down Freedom Drive, surrounded the building, and are currently shouting commands to the assailant using a bullhorn.
