AEW Forbidden Door II – Match Card Predictions

1091

After Double or Nothing 2023 it is time for another AEW PPV on the horizon, this time the cross promotional show between All Elite Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling. AEW has captured the hearts, souls, and minds of wrestling fans all around the world. They have a unique in-ring action packed product that gives thrills to all the viewers.

From high-flying wrestlers to strong style clashes, all the wrestlers leave it all on the mat and deliver a performance that rivals the adrenaline-pumping moments found in other sports like NBA. The captivating nature of AEW is that fans might shift their focus from scrutinizing NBA betting lines to witness some amazing show inside the squared circle.

Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr. [NJPW World TV Championship]

A dream-match that was supposed to happen a year ago on the first annual Forbidden Door show, but due to Bryan Danielson’s injury had to be scrapped, and Claudio was inserted on behalf of Danielson instead. This year we can finally have this bout between two of the best technical wrestlers in the world. We predict Bryan Danielson to win.

Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay II [IWGP United States Championship]

Another dream-match that could easily happen at AEW Forbidden Door is a rematch from this year’s Wrestle Kingdom show. Will Ospreay finally redeem himself and regain his IWGP United States Championship from Kenny “by god” Omega.

Mayu Iwatani vs. Toni Storm [Champion vs. Champion]

A simple but effective champion vs. champion match that could highlight both stars while putting one champion over. Mayu Iwatani could get away with a huge win over Toni Storm due to miscommunication between The Outcasts or interference from returning from injury Jamie Hayter setting up the match for All In 2023. We predict Mayu Iwatani to win.

Orange Cassidy vs Great-O-Khan [AEW International Championship]

The King of Sloth Style against Great-O-Khan should be what everyone expects it to be. A fun-filled match with tons of positively stupid spots, which could get us cheering over and over, and yet be an intense in-ring encounter between these two wrestlers if they try to put on a great showing. We predict Orange Cassidy to win.

Mercedes Mone vs. Dr. Britt Baker

Not enough dream matches? Here’s another one. There is a high chance Mercedes Mone’s ankle injury will be over by the time of the show, and we wish her a speedy recovery. Due to our positive thinking, we predict that there is still a chance of this match happening on the show ever since Dr. Britt Baker teased that she is the boss around AEW. It is a match that was very unlikely to happen about a year ago, and now with Mercedes Mone FKA Sasha Banks in NJPW everything is possible, considering the great relationship between said promotion and AEW.

Jay White and Juice Robinson vs. Sanada and Hiromu Takahashi

Bullet Club Gold versus NJPW top champions in the battle of the past members of the NJPW roster and the current champions of the company. We think it could be a hell of a match, where Juice could get pinned and nobody will lose anything in defeat. We predict Sanada and Hiromu Takahashi to win in the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Canada!

CM Punk vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi

A match that was teased a year ago, that also did not take place due to CM Punk’s injury and vacating the belt. This year the match can become a reality. Even though it would not be for any championship they still can have a particularly good match, and fans would finally get the match that was being set up over a year ago. We predict CM Punk to get away with the win.

Aussie Open vs. FTR [Champion vs. Champion]

Another champion vs. champion match that could steal the show is a tag team bout between Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, and Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davies. It all depends on Mark Davies’ status for the show but if he was to be cleared, we might get one of the best tag matches of the year. We predict the FTR to win, to even the odds for the women’s champion vs. champion match.

Willow Nightingale vs. Hikaru Shida [Strong Women’s Championship]

Willow Nightingale should be highlighted more on the AEW television and being Strong Women’s Champion in the buildup to Forbidden Door II could help with that. She should have a high-profile match and an honorable fight with Hikaru Shida could elevate her in the eyes of AEW fans. We predict Willow Nightingale to retain.

MJF vs. Kazuchika Okada [AEW World Championship]

Finally, for our main event of the evening another championship defense that MJF could be proud of (if he cared). Kazuchika Okada is one of the best professional wrestlers in the history of this sport, with 7-star matches all over the world. He would be a perfect contender for MJF’s AEW World Championship with enough fans and odds behind him so you could buy into every near fall. And even in defeat, imagine how MJF would gloat forever after cheating to win a match with Kazuchika Okada. We predict MJF to retain his championship, but this would be one of the biggest dream matches of 2023.
