FIT Precast just announced plans to build a new $102 million headquarters and concrete pipe manufacturing facility in Gastonia, bringing 125 new jobs to the region.

The company will construct a 154,000-square-foot campus to support its administrative and production operations. FIT Precast will manufacture precast concrete and piping products used in stormwater systems, transportation projects, and utility construction across the Southeast.

“The demand for resilient, American-made infrastructure has never been greater, and North Carolina is the ideal place to meet that challenge,” said Matt Goreski, President of FIT Precast in a press release. “This flagship headquarters and production facility is the most advanced precast concrete manufacturing site in the country; investing in both leading-edge technology and the people of North Carolina with high paying, meaningful careers. The Gaston County EDC and the State of North Carolina consistently went above and beyond to secure this project, we would like to thank them for making this our new home.”

New jobs will average $102,168 a year—nearly double Gaston County’s average salary of $52,180. Officials estimate the project will generate more than $12.7 million in annual payroll.

The state approved a Job Development Investment Grant to support the project. Over 12 years, the investment is expected to add $530 million to North Carolina’s economy. The JDIG authorizes up to $2.3 million in potential reimbursement, issued only after the company meets hiring and investment targets.

With a projected 170% return on investment, state leaders say the deal will return $2.70 in revenue for every public dollar committed.
