A historic 200-acre farm in Huntersville has been sold to homebuilder Shea Homes for $24.625 million, Mecklenburg County records show.
TM Westmoreland & Sons Farm, the last operating dairy farm in Mecklenburg County, finalized the sale last week. The land has produced beef cattle and grains in recent years but was formerly a cotton and dairy farm for over a century.
Located near Lake Norman, the farmland was previously considered as a site for the controversial Lagoona Bay Crystal Lagoon project, which would have turned the property into a sprawling turquoise lagoon with white sandy beaches, palm trees, and other tropical features.
Specific development plans and home pricing for the new Shea Homes subdivision has not yet been announced.
