The J.M. Smucker Company has recalled several lots of Hostess Ding Dongs after discovering a mechanical issue that could lead to mold growth.

The official recall, announced in coordination with grocery company SpartanNash on August 21, 2025, affects three Ding Dongs products sold nationwide:

  • Hostess Chocolate Ding Dongs Single Serve (2 count)

  • Hostess Chocolate Ding Dongs (10 count)

  • Hostess Chocolate Ding Dongs Family Pack (16 count)

The recalled products include Best By dates of August 30, 2025, through September 3, 2025.

According to the company, the mold risk stemmed from a mechanical malfunction in production equipment. No other Hostess or J.M. Smucker products are affected. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has been notified, and additional monitoring of supply chains is underway.

Consumers are advised not to eat the recalled Ding Dongs and to return them to the store of purchase for a refund. Questions can be directed to Hostess Brands at 1-800-483-7253.
