At Least 3 Tornadoes Touched Down in North Carolina As Debby Ploughed Through Our State

At least three tornadoes have been confirmed in North Carolina due to Tropical Storm Debby. One death has been reported so far in Wilson County, where a tornado struck near Lucama, destroying several homes, a middle school, and a church.

The 3 tornados include one in Franklin County:

One in Snow Hill, NC;

and a third in Wilson County, which has caused the most damage so far:

Springfield Middle School sustained severe damage, particularly to its 6th and 7th-grade halls, where sections of the roof and walls were torn away. Fortunately, no students or staff were present during the storm.
