If you’re thinking about taking a trip abroad but you don’t have a passport, we’ve got good news!
This weekend, North Carolina will be hosting a rare event to allow residents an expedited passport application process.
Details for the upcoming Rutherford County passport fair are as follows:
- Date: Saturday, Oct. 14
- Location: Rutherford County Administration Offices, 289 N Main St.
- Time: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Note: No appointments are necessary, and walk-ins are welcome.
Typically, these rapid passport events cater to first-time passport applicants. If you’re needing to just renew your passport, it’s recommended you do it through the mail.
Requirements for New Passport Application:
- Completed passport application form.
- Original or certified copy of proof of U.S. citizenship (e.g., birth certificate, certificate of naturalization, certificate of citizenship).
- A photocopy of the proof of citizenship on standard white 8.5” by 11” paper.
- A valid ID (e.g., driver’s license, government employment ID, U.S. military ID).
- A photocopy of the ID.
- A recent color passport photo (taken within the last 6 months). Detailed photo requirements are available online.
- Fees: $130 application fee and $35 execution fee. For children aged 16 and under, the application fee is $100.
Additional documentation is required for passport applications for children 16 and under.
