University City Food Truck Friday Returns To Boost Local Businesses

University City Partners will resume University City Food Truck Friday at Armored Cow Brewery each Friday evening from 5 to 9 p.m. The weekly event will return on March 19 to offer more outdoor dining choices and support local food vendors, musicians and pop-up shops impacted by the pandemic. The public is encouraged to pick up food to go or enjoy social distanced dining from their favorite restaurant on wheels while enjoying live music.

“It’s so important to continue to support the businesses that bring us great experiences and good food,” said Darlene Heater, Executive Director of University City Partners. “Our Food Truck Fridays are a breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively. The community can enjoy a safe time outdoors and our local small business owners gain an opportunity to work.”

Participating food trucks will utilize parking spaces surrounding Armored Cow Brewery. Each week, visitors can expect a new rotation of food trucks, live music, craft vendors and drinks from the brewery.  The weekly lineup of food trucks can be found on Facebook under events hosted by Armored Cow and University City Partners.

University City Food Truck Friday began in the fall of 2020 as part of the City of Charlotte’s StreetEats program. The City of Charlotte created StreetEats for some of Charlotte’s favorite restaurants to open temporary outdoor seating for dining in parking lots, private streets and city right-of-ways. StreetEats in University City was a success last fall and paved the way for University City Food Truck Friday to run through fall 2021.

Armored Cow is located at 8821 JW Clay Blvd. More details about University City Food Truck Friday can be found at facebook.com/UnivCityCLT/events.
