#7 Physician Assistant
“Punch or shave?” This is always the question my nursing staff asks when I want to perform a skin biopsy. Dermatology is a procedure heavy specialty; over 50% of my visits can involve some sort of minor procedure and skin biopsy is definitely one of the most commonly performed procedures. Skin biopsies are helpful in confirming diagnosis such as skin cancer as well as providing clues to rashes or growths that are difficult to diagnosis clinically. This clinicopathologic correlation between what is seen underneath the microscope to what is happening macroscopically on the skin is a top reason why I really like this field! @womeninmedicine #dermatologist #womeninmedicine #medicine #physician #whitecoat #happydoctors
