A number of strong thunderstorm systems are developing around the Charlotte region today with potentially dangerous weather forecasted for this afternoon.
The National Weather Service just issued the following alert for Cleveland-Lincoln-Gaston-Mecklenburg-Cabarrus-Union counties:
Numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms are expected across the area through the afternoon. Some of these storms will become severe with damaging winds and a few tornadoes possible. Isolated large hail is also possible.

According to meteorologist Brad Panovich, there is a high chance of damaging winds and a medium chance of tornadoes and hail throughout the Charlotte region this afternoon.
