Over 68,000 lbs of Perdue chicken nuggets “that may be contaminated with extraneous materials” are now being recalled, according to the USDA.

The gluten-free ‘SimplySmart’ Organics Breaded Chicken Breast Nuggets were sold in various stores around the country, including here in Charlotte, and online at Amazon.com.

They were produced on Oct. 25, have a UPC bar code of 72745-80656 and the establishment number of P-33944 in the USDA inspection mark.

According to the USDA, “The problem was discovered when the firm received three consumer complaints that wood was found in the product.”

They are urging all consumers who have purchased these products to not consume them, and that they should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.

Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Perdue Consumer Care at (877) 727-3447.
