The Charlotte region is in for an evening of severe weather as a line of thunderstorms approaches from the south.
This morning the National Weather Service sent out a hazardous weather warning for Cleveland, Lincoln, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Cabarrus, Union, and York counties, saying:
Scattered thunderstorms are expected across the area today, primarily from late afternoon through the evening. While the primary threats from these storms will be cloud to ground lightning and locally heavy rainfall, a few storms could produce severe weather in the form of large hail and brief damaging wind gusts. While a severe storm cannot be ruled out anywhere, slightly higher chances for severe weather will exist across the foothills and Piedmont of North Carolina.
