National Hamburger Day is tomorrow, May 28, and restaurants across the Charlotte area are celebrating with major burger deals and freebies.
Hamburgers remain one of America’s most popular foods, with consumers spending an estimated $115 billion at U.S. burger chains in 2025 alone.
Several major chains are offering discounts and free burgers tomorrow, including:
- Burger King — Royal Perks members can get a free hamburger with a $3 purchase using the app or website
- Bad Daddy’s Burger Bar — Featuring its special “Smashadilla Burger” throughout May
- Buffalo Wild Wings — Rewards members receive a free burger with a $15 purchase
- Hardee’s — My Rewards members can buy one Famous Star burger and get another for one cent
- Checkers and Rally’s — Buy one Classic Burger, get one free
- Dairy Queen — Rewards members get $1 off Signature Stackburgers through May 31
- Firebirds Wood Fired Grill — Offering a $14.95 meal combo with a Smashburger and side
- Jack in the Box — Free Jr. Jumbo Jack with a $1 purchase
- Ruby Tuesday — Smash burger, fries or tots, plus salad bar for $8.99
- Shake Shack — Free ShackBurger with a $10 order using code FREEBURGER
- Smashburger — Any single Smash Burger for $5.28 using promo code 528SINGLE
- Sonic Drive-In — Rewards members can get a free burger with a $3 purchase
- Whataburger — Free Whataburger with purchase of fries and a drink for rewards members
Many of the deals require loyalty program memberships or mobile app orders.
Several promotions also run through Memorial Day weekend or the end of May.
With burger chains accounting for roughly 20% of all consumer spending at chain restaurants annually, National Hamburger Day continues growing into one of the food industry’s biggest promotional events of the year.
